Cagney was a New York City based Harold Team at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. They performed from November 23, 2004 to May 17, 2005.

Origin of Name

There has been some debate about the origin of the group's name. It is unclear if they were named for the old timey actor James Cagney or for the 'cops in skirts' 80's television drama, "Cagney and Lacey". It turns out that when the name was suggested, some of the group (including Kirk) thought it would reference the actor, while others (including Glennis) thought it referenced the TV show.

In any case, it's a very strange thing for anyone to wonder about.

Cagney was one of the few UCB Harold Teams to never have any changes made to its cast.

Cagney produced free matchbooks with their logo (a baby reading a book and lifting a barbell) and distributed them at the theater and at McManus.

An anonymous person once posted on Craigslist a mean message about Cagney, criticizing (amongst other things) repeatedly having a dog humping someone's leg in several shows. The writer later apologized after a member (Shelly? Glennis? Megan?) wrote them an email.

Andy Scully's current whereabouts are unknown.
